In Mining Industries – Xanthates are used as flotation agents for non-ferrous metal sulfides. The sulfur component in Xanthates attracts the sulfide components in the mineral ore. In Pharma Industries – Xanthates are used for manufacturing of drugs like Pantoprazole. In a chemical reaction, Xanthates are used in place of hazardous and flammable liquid CS2. It is also treated as a carrier in such reaction.
